The presence of an exceptional point has been shown to provide physical systems with unique features, such as high sensitivity and a nontrivial topology for deformations that encircle exceptional points. Recently, we have found that systems that violate detailed balance exhibit exceptional rings, which can be thought of as an infinite number of exceptional points.
