{"id":1060,"date":"2016-07-21T16:43:42","date_gmt":"2016-07-21T13:43:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/phsites.technion.ac.il\/soker\/?p=1060"},"modified":"2019-09-22T11:30:21","modified_gmt":"2019-09-22T08:30:21","slug":"simulating-grazing-envelope-evolution-july-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/phsites.technion.ac.il\/soker\/simulating-grazing-envelope-evolution-july-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Simulating the Grazing envelope evolution (July 2016)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a <a href=\"http:\/\/adsabs.harvard.edu\/abs\/2016arXiv160700839S\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new paper<\/a> <strong>Sagiv Shiber<\/strong>, <strong>Amit Kashi<\/strong>, and I, presented the first simulations of the grazing envelope evolution (GEE). &nbsp;In the GEE jets launched by the secondary star efficiently remove the outer part of the giant envelope, while the secondary star grazes the surface of the primary giant star and spirals-in.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Simulations:<\/strong> A secondary main sequence star enters the envelope of an asymptotic giant branch star of 3.4 solar mass. We assume that the secondary star launches two opposite jets perpendicular to the orbital plane. &nbsp;There are three segments, each 1.5 years: (i) Density in the orbital plane; (ii) 3D image of jet material (blue) and ejected gas from the envelope of the giant primary star (red); (iii) Temperature in the equatorial plane. &nbsp;&nbsp;<a
