Topology, like group theory, is an elegant field of mathematics that allows one to describe geometrical forms, wherever they occur. It is especially attractive to apply topological ideas to the torus that appears in the momentum space of a crystal or to paths of particles enclosing one another, but it is surprising how dramatic the implications of some of these concepts can be for experiments.
This conference aims to bring together many of the physicists contributing creatively to this topological revolution in condensed matter physics, in honour of one of its pioneers, professor Joshua Zak, who has been awarded the Israel Prize for his work in this field.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the most recent developments but also to allow as many students and young researchers as possible to attend and to learn from some of the best researchers in this field worldwide.
