TitleNodal Superconductors: Spin-Orbit Coupling and Josephson Junctions
Abstract (text only)

Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) such as NbSe2 have been suggested as ideal platforms to study intrinsic and induced unconventional superconductivity. A strong Ising spin-orbit coupling (SOC) results in remarkable stability to an in-plane magnetic field even beyond the Pauli critical limit due to a quantum phase transition into a topological nodalsuperconducting phase which is characterized by Majorana flat bands. Using the Bogoliubov-de Gennes (BdG) Hamiltonian formalism, we study the unique topological properties. We also understand the interplay between the Ising SOC and a Rashba SOC in presence of an external magnetic field and how they change the behavior of a Josephson junction of such materials. Moreover, the current across such a junction also depends upon the angle at which the junction is formed. By studying current-phase relation, we can infer topological properties of the material.
