ARPES
We have in the lab an ARPES spectrometer based on a Scienta R4000 hemispherical analyzer. We have two UV-sources: an He discharge-lamp with a monochromator and a 6.5eV UV-laser based on the fourth harmonic of a Ti:sapphire laser.
We also travel for ARPES experiments in user-facilities, mainly at the SLS in Switzerland, BESSY in Berlin, and Soleil in Saint-Aubin.
In addition to ARPES, as a complementary technique, we are using Muon Spin Rotation (MuSR). MuSR is very sensitive probe that allows one to measure the spatial and time distribution of magnetic fields in a sample. We are traveling regularly to MuSR facilities in Europe (PSI and ISIS).
Sample preparation lab
We prepare single crystals of various material in our prep. lab. In the lab we have vertical furnaces for growing crystals from the melt using flux methods and Bridgman. We also have a few horizontal multi-zone furnaces for growing crystals using gas-transport.
