Welcome to the fifth workshop of the “family” members of Theoretical Chemistry at the Technion.
The hard core of our “family” are those who were, or still are graduate students at the Technion, and as we go along, we see new generations joining this family, many students of our students are with us and hopefully soon students of students of our students will join in.
An integral part of our “family” are our frequent visitors whom most of you know very well, and who collaborated with some of you.
The main goal of our meetings is to expose the young generation of our PhD students to the large variety of research topics that are carried out by people who did their PhD in theoretical chemistry.
Indeed, the skills and training acquired by our students open many possibilities, and among us we find people who had their PhD in the theory of light-matter interactions, chemical reactions, quantum or optical physics, and ended up as experimentalists, biologists, physicists, hi-tech scientists and engineers and/or founders of startup companies. For someone outside the “family” this may look surprising, as many of us end up doing things that have very little or even no overlap with their PhD theme work, but we realize that the love of science, free and critical thinking and creativity (not to mention exceptional points…) are at the very basis of all these.
Above all we wish to strength the connections among all of us and carry on our motto that
SCIENCE IS FUN !
