2D MOT is working
Our 2D MOT is working nicely – it loads a 3D MOT with around 5*108 40K atoms in about 5 seconds. Next step: 3D MOT optimization, D1 cooling and optical pumping.
Getting ready for baking
We have just finished the assembly of our system, and it is now being pumped down. Next week we plan to start the baking process.
We’ve got our first K40 MOT yesterday!
We are very excited – after a long day of aligning and debugging, we finally see the light in the end of the quadruple magnetic field. This also means our home built sources are working nicely.
Just assembled the our first vacuum system
We have just finished to assemble the first part of our vacuum system. This system includes home built K40 sources, which we plan to test soon. In the final complete design, in this part the 2D magneto-optical trap is going to be generated and sent into the second chamber.
