String theory is a rapidly growing field which incorporates many fields of physics and mathematics. As such, in the first few years of graduate study students are urged to take several courses which provide the backbone of string theory and quantum field theory in general. A suggested schedule for graduate students is as follows: (note that string theory is given every other third year and geometrical methods and group theory are given on alternating years)

Semester 1	Quantum mechanics 3 Electrodynamics Stat. Mech. 2
Semester 2	Quantum field theory 1 Particle physics Introduction to general relativity
Semester 3	Quantum field theory 2 Group-theory (or Geometrical methods) String theory (Available every 3rd year)
Semester 4	Advanced topics in particle physics/field theory Advanced string theory (Available every 3rd year)
Semester 5	Geometrical methods in physics (or Group theory) String theory (available every 3rd year)
Semester 6	Advanced topics in particle physics/field theory Advanced string theory (available every 3rd year)
